About CAT
The Cardinal Academy of Technology (CAT) is a four-year engineering and technology pathway at Whittier High School in the Whittier Union High School District. Students move from robotics in the freshman year, through engineering design and mechatronics, to a senior capstone in full product design. Along the way they earn industry certifications and college credit while building real, working projects.
CAT is co-directed by Daniel Oliver and Steven Swanson. To keep the academy running, we build and operate our own classroom tools, the four web applications below. They are used by CAT students and staff, and we collect only the information each tool needs to do its job.
Our applications
CAT Prints
Order and job-tracking queue for the classroom's Roland printer and print jobs. Staff manage orders, and assigned students sign in to mark their jobs complete.
CAT Board
Digital signage for the classroom TVs. Students and staff submit photos of field trips, projects, and events by email, and staff curate what appears on screen.
Open dashboard ›CAT Print Farm
Automated intake and tracking for the 3D-printer fleet. Submit a sliced file through a form, and get emailed when your print starts, finishes, and a timelapse is ready.
Open CAT Print Farm ›CAT Jukebox
Classroom music reward. Queue a song to play on the classroom jukebox once you are caught up on your Google Classroom work.

Our tools serve students, most of whom are minors, so we keep data handling minimal and transparent. We never sell information and never use it for advertising. Our use of Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- Privacy Policy, what each app collects and why.
- Terms of Service, how the tools may be used.
- Data and deletion, what we store and how to request removal.
